The food was delicious, and I felt welcome straight away. It felt like being in a National Trust house where you can actually sit on the furniture! 🤣

The Fire room was so cosy, yet elegant, and had air conditioning, a top range shower, and tea and coffee with a lovely little shortbread touch. After breakfast, which was delicious, we had a gorgeous stroll around the grounds. The gardens are impeccable. Lovely room and excellent service, including at check-in. A beautiful stay.

The 16th century house is interesting, and the grounds are lovely for a walk. I stopped in for lunch too. The food was good, though expensive.

The dining room is beautiful, and the tasting menu was excellent. Breakfast was one of the best I've had. The accommodation was more of a mixed bag. Our room was called “luxury” but faced the staff car park, with stained blinds, frayed fittings and fake flowers. The bathroom layout was awkward and the electric shower basic. Many rooms are in a separate wing that feels more like a Premier Inn than a luxury country house. Check carefully when booking, as some rooms have the country house feel while others don't live up to the luxury promised on the website. I'm an independent travel agent, and I'm sharing an honest review to help travellers book with confidence.

The gardens are amazing, and the building has lots of history. The family still owns it and has done a wonderful job restoring it. Lovely staff too, especially Dawn on reception. The restaurant is a perfect spot for a special occasion.
