The evening meal was comforting on a cold night, with a blazing fire in the cosy ground-floor bistro. The team were very helpful and couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. We had prawns to start, followed by venison and sea bass, all well cooked and generous portions. The clementine tart was lovely, and the apple and pear crumble was one of the best I’ve had in years. At Roebuck arms, we got a very friendly welcome and were offered Picpoul or Bobal. We chose Bobal as the more intimate, cosy option. The renovations are quirky but tastefully done. We were asked if we wanted to use the Log burner, but the room was warm enough without it. A Crodino and English 75 were offered as welcome drinks. The bathroom’s roll-top bath was inviting too. Good value for money.

The fish and chips were the best I’ve EVER had on this food journey, 100%. The chips had a crisp coating, and the haddock batter was light and crunchy right down to the last bite. Neil had the butter-roasted Monk fish tail with smoked chorizo and butter bean cassoulet on wilted kale, while I had battered haddock with chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce, plus bread and butter. We also shared onion rings. We only ate here, we didn’t stay overnight. On this week’s Wandering Wednesday, Neil and I went a little further afield to The Roebuck Inn in Mobberley, Knutsford, about half an hour away. The olde-worlde pub has snug rooms, beautiful decor, was spotlessly clean, and felt warm and cosy. The staff were welcoming, and our server Katie was professional, friendly and very attentive. The service was impeccable. The food was out of this world, cooked perfectly, beautifully presented and piping hot, with incredible flavours. I couldn’t praise it enough. I’ve been doing Wandering Wednesday for two years, and this has to be the best place yet. Huge compliments to the chefs for the delicious food and to Katie for making the afternoon special. This place is well worth the trip and not to be missed. Will we come back to this gem? 100%, in a flash!

The room was just as I’d imagined, and I truly felt like I was in a fairytale. I loved the hotel’s cosy British countryside style, which felt both posh and charming. We had our mini wedding at The Rebook Inn in Mobberley on 6th December, and everything was so beautiful I’m struggling to find the words. The whole team made the day unforgettable. From the start, the staff were kind, attentive, professional and genuinely caring, and the service was flawless. They made us feel special on such an important day. The food was very, very, very good, beautifully prepared, full of flavour and enjoyed by everyone. The atmosphere and all the little details felt perfect. We’re so grateful and will always return to The Rebook Inn with an open heart and wonderful memories. Thank you all so much.

A great evening out with friends. The menu had plenty of choice and looked good, and there was a nice selection of drinks. I had the salted peppers followed by the Monk fish, both wonderfully tasty, with good service too. The house beer was a good pint. Thank you.

It feels like a home from home for us, and we always have a fantastic stay at The Roebuck Inn in Mobberely. Amy is great at sorting out the bookings. The rooms are beautifully finished, comfortable and full of thoughtful details, making the place feel special and unique rather than like a generic countryside b&b inn. Downstairs, the pub has a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere and loads of character. The food is excellent, and the staff provide friendly, amazing service. It’s a great place to stay or spend an evening. We’ll come back every time we’re in the UK. Thanks!
