There’s no catering here, but the Dial pub down the road serves excellent meals. We stayed four nights in December, and our room was clean, comfortable and completely quiet, even beside the front door. I loved being able to help myself to the posh coffee machine, a big choice of teas and hot chocolate in the lounge at any time, day or night. With no staff on site, it felt more like an Airbnb, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Our room had French doors opening onto the front patio, with an outstanding view, and the staff were so friendly. The continental breakfast was brilliant too. It was excellent value and certainly exceeded our expectations. I’d highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel has seen better days, and the nightly price matched the properly staffed hotels we’d stayed in on other days of the week. We arrived at 6pm and had to let ourselves in using a key box, with no staff on site. A friendly lady came in to serve coffee and toast at breakfast, but there was nobody around in the evening or overnight. It felt more like an Airbnb.

We love getting away somewhere quiet, and this was so peaceful. The room was gorgeous, the bed comfy, and there was a lovely selection of tea and coffee. The bathroom was clean and nicely done too. I accidentally left something behind, and the owner, such a lovely, talkative man, is sending it back to my home. We’ll be back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Niamh gave us a warm welcome and useful advice about places to visit and bus timetables. The location worked really well for us, by a historic Church and close to the beautiful Palace ruins. It’s about a good 45-minute level walk along the main road, or you can travel by train or bus. I also enjoyed eating takeaway fish and chips on the outdoor terrace. The hotel has seen better times, but our bedroom was clean and tidy, the bathroom adequate, and the night quiet and decent. Breakfast was very basic, though I did have yoghurt, fruit and good coffee. They should invest in the installations, sort out the occasional drainage odours, and reinstate the pedestrian side entrance that leads to the railway station.
