The Fleece Inn

The location is okay, but you’ll need a car to get around. The room was spotless, with a great bathroom and shower, and the staff were always courteous and quick to help. There’s a good range of beers at the bar and fantastic pub grub. We had a great stay and will return.

We came back for two nights at The Fleece Inn, having stayed one night at New Year, and we’re already looking forward to coming again. It’s an easy place to reach just off the M6, yet the grounds feel peaceful and secluded. They’re really well kept, and there’s a small on-site local shop with essentials, a nice touch. Liverpool is about 50 minutes away for us. The place has a calm, spotless feel, with tasteful decor and the relaxed atmosphere of a local pub. We love the rooms and the food, and the staff are fantastic, warm, friendly and attentive. It’s a lovely little break from home. Thanks for another great stay!

A handy place to stop if you’re heading elsewhere, very close to the M6. I dropped in on the off chance for food and real ale, and the whole place had a lovely mix of local pub and gastro pub with rooms. Staff were accommodating and knew their ales, which were kept in fantastic condition. My first pint was the last of its barrel, so they gave it to me FOC while they changed it. I tried all the ales, I know, and every one was excellent. The food was a great mix of tapas style nibbles and traditional British dishes. The seafood main on focaccia bread topped off the meal. I’ll definitely be back and can highly recommend it.

The place was busy, but the staff kept going and the service stayed friendly and nicely paced. We never waited too long or felt rushed. We both had roast beef, which was delicious and just the right portion size. The gravy was exceptional. For dessert, I had crumble and my husband had ginger sticky toffee pudding, both absolutely delicious. We’ve only recently moved to the area and wanted to try the local, so booked Sunday lunch. Prices are at the top end, but fair for the food and service, and not unusual for this location. We look forward to coming back to try more, and sample local drinks when we don’t have to drive.
