Carfraemill

Blair, my collie, was made very welcome and even got a tasty sausage from the lovely staff. I loved coming here three times during our holiday week. The food was delicious, prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere was nice. Friendly service with a smile, and it's dog friendly too. I'd highly recommend it.

I used to remember this as a nice place to stop, but sadly we won't be back. We came for coffee and cake: the conservatory tables felt really sticky, the coffee tasted sour, and there were black specks in the milk, maybe coffee grounds. Our food arrived bit by bit, and I had to ask for the last item.

For a drink and a stretch during a road trip, this seems like a pleasant stop. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, with a decent range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We came for dinner, though, and the food let us down: frozen vegetables, chewy fish and a greasy steak pie. At those prices, the food quality didn't feel worth it.

The meal was spot on for me and my companions, apart from the steak pie, which was a bit dry and could have done with more gravy. We liked the location and interior too. After a warm welcome and an easy order, though, we felt forgotten; the staff seemed to disappear, leaving the person at the bar to handle the tables as well. We'll come back and hope it was just an off day.
