Best Western Fowey Valley

We came to see the Starling Murmuration at Roughtor and also enjoyed a day in Fowey. At the hotel, the new owners made us feel welcome and were friendly while still providing professional service. Breakfast was delicious, nicely presented, and made with local products with less plastic. There was bacon and sausage on the menu, and dietary needs were accommodated without limiting other people's choices. The beds were comfortable, the rooms warm, and it was nice to see wooden furniture instead of plastic. There's plenty of parking and an outdoor pool heated all year.

We'd definitely stay here again if we're back in the area. The dog-friendly rooms were spotless and came with bowls, treats, poo bags, and a list of dog-friendly beaches, so we had everything we needed. The manager was lovely and gave us extra dog treats each day. They were kind, helpful, always up for a chat, and the rest of the staff were fantastic too. Our breakfast waiter was especially welcoming and friendly with our dog.

Breakfast was tremendous, with a fantastic spread, and the hotel was good value in a fantastic location. I've stayed at a few Best Western hotels around the country and found the standard consistent. This one was just the same. The Wi-Fi was down when we arrived, and there's almost no mobile signal inside, but it was fixed within a few hours, so it wasn't a major problem. We only stayed one night, and I'd happily recommend the place and stay again. Thank you!

My concern was the food and drink policy. I respect people's cultures and beliefs, but I think guests should be told before arrival that pork and alcohol aren't served. We only found a note about it in our room, and that made it feel imposed on us. Breakfast had good alternatives, and the staff were very accommodating. The rooms were lovely and clean, the service was good, and the electric charging service was excellent. It would have helped if management had shared the decision before our visit.
