Heath Cottage Hotel

The £60 night was a bargain, and they gave us complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water. I slept fine, though my partner didn't. The rooms looked clean at first, but up close there were cobwebs everywhere; they just need a feather duster. It has an old hotel smell, look and feel.

We were put in room 25, which was run down, despite the reviews making the hotel look really nice. There were ten spiders in the room. I spoke to reception, and was told to find a way to take them out. The staff weren't helpful, and this was the worst hotel I've stayed in. Management refused any kind of refund because they thought the room was livable. The photos show what I mean.

I was looking forward to my two-day booking, but a death in the family the day before meant I couldn't go. I called the hotel to explain and would have been happy to choose another date, but they wouldn't offer a refund or let me reschedule. I was told it was out of the question, and that was that. Very disappointing.

I was really disappointed. When I arrived, nobody was there to meet me, so I had to phone the hotel to get someone to come to reception. In room 5 the carpet was badly stained and dirty. There were no restaurant facilities or evening meal or breakfast, and I saw no staff apart from the woman who came to get my key. Glad I was only there for one night.
