We made good use of the spa and came away feeling pampered and refreshed. The spa bath, pool, steam room, sauna and massage were all much appreciated. The restaurant was high standard, with a good choice of meals that were very well prepared and presented. Congratulations to the chef and serving team. Barry stood out for his cheerful, good-humoured service and genuine interest. All the staff were attentive, courteous and helpful throughout. Our room was cosy, with a lovely woodland view and plenty of hot water in the bathroom. Everything from booking to departure went very smoothly. A most enjoyable stay, and I’d be keen to return and would recommend it to anyone considering a visit.

I was here for a first aid training course, and there was rubbish scattered around the hotel grounds. At the back, in the courtyard, a heap of smashed furniture was piled two storeys high against the wall. I’m not joking, it looked like an enormous bonfire pile.

We held a baby shower here and had afternoon tea, with more than enough lovely food. The room was set up perfectly for us, with nice table decorations, a private entrance and our own bar. It’s a lovely setting beside Golden Acre Park. The events manager Joel and the whole team were happy to help with anything we needed. At £11.95 per person for everything, I thought it was great value.

The staff were very friendly, the gym looked okay, and the room was warm. But for the price, this place is definitely overpriced. The room felt old and overused. The carpet had disgusting stains, the furniture was worn, and there was mould in the bathroom, especially at the ventilation outlet. The hot and cold taps are still separate, which feels outdated. The wellness area was horrible and dirty, with very poor hygiene. There was nowhere to rinse your footwear when entering. The showers for rinsing before swimming were dirty and barely gave any water, so I doubt anyone uses them. The pool tiles were old, disgusting and stained brown all over, especially in the corners. The chlorine smell was strong, and the changing rooms were freezing. The lobby and dining area furniture was old and dirty too, and there were visible stains on several restaurant chairs. The lobby had no sense of aesthetics to make the stay pleasant. Breakfast didn’t offer much in the way of savoury choices if you don’t like a full English. The juice glasses stuck to the trays and were all covered in water marks.
