We loved spending New Year by the log fire, with those lovely views outside. The place was welcoming and extremely clean, and the bed was really comfortable. Towels were supplied, soft and fluffy, and we found the home a fantastic find. It feels wonderfully remote, though Alnwick centre, the castle, and a beach are all just a 10-minute drive away, with a decent shopping centre about seven minutes away. We didn't find any chipped dishes or cups like the earlier review mentioned. We'd highly recommend it and would stay again.

The location and views could make this a wonderful place, but our stay felt poor for the price. The owner seems to be aiming for shabby chic, though it came across as simply shabby. There were cobwebs in the bathroom and green slime on its floor, and the microwave was dirty. The fridge was missing shelves, the kitchen had only cheap basics, and some crockery was chipped. We also found a half-used toilet roll and no spare rolls. These days owners usually leave at least a pint of milk for guests, but there was nothing here.

We had a lovely week at the Huffy House and have just returned. It was a great place to stay, with brilliant views, and a handy base for exploring the Northumberland coastline.
