A handy base for a weekend in Lichfield, with the town centre an easy walk away and restaurants, bars and pubs just a few minutes from the hotel. There’s no evening meal service, but the breakfast is very good, with plenty of choice and gluten-free options, and the bar on site is a bonus. The staff were friendly and knew their stuff. The cleaning could use a little more attention.

The location was excellent, and the stay was very good value. Our room was spacious, clean and attractive, and we enjoyed the varied, delicious breakfast. The staff were very friendly too. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

We slept really well in this quiet, central spot. The rooms were comfortable, clean and nicely decorated, and breakfast was delicious. Everyone on staff was very friendly. We had a great stay at The Cathedral Hotel and would definitely return.

Peter was helpful and friendly throughout the wedding planning, and kept in touch regularly. The food at the event was top quality and well worth the money, with lots of guests complimenting the buffet. Our room was nice, and although breakfast was a bit cold, we did still have a lovely wedding despite the problems. There were several issues on the day. The welcome drinks I paid for were supposed to be bucks fizz, but may have been prosecco; I’m not sure. They were warm and didn’t taste very nice. I’d also paid for juice for the children, but we didn’t get it, and I didn’t see any plain orange juice either. I asked to move the buffet to 7:30, but it wasn’t served until 8, by which time guests were getting hungry. Sarah, the deputy manager, was snappy with my brother about having another drink, even though he wasn’t very drunk and seemed fine and happy at our private function. She also shouted at my brother-in-law for smoking by the steps. It was the way she spoke to him that was the problem. Some staff were moody and made us feel rubbish, which isn’t good when you’re spending a fortune on an event and your guests are spending at the bar. The bar could do with a wider choice too, as there was no Malibu, tequila rose or any kind of shots. The food was thrown away in less than two hours, possibly sooner. I asked them to leave the sandwiches out, but Sarah shouted that she couldn’t. I’d paid for the food, and it was up to me if I wanted it left out, but I watched it all go into bin bags. Some guests went back for more and found it was gone. I don’t think that was fair after I’d asked them to keep it. The next morning I couldn’t find my flowers or other things. The morning staff said they couldn’t locate them, but when I called again that afternoon someone said they were in the office, so my family had to go back to collect them. They also questioned our 20-year-old son for ID when he’d forgotten it, and I had to argue for them to serve him. I didn’t want to deal with that on my wedding day. The customer service needs improving, though Peter was nice. Thank you.

I went to a networking event at Cathedral Hotel and really liked the relaxed, professional setting for meeting other local businesses. The atmosphere was warm, the food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. I’d happily attend more events there and would recommend it as a networking venue.
