It’s a student dorm apartment, so there are often students waiting to ask staff for things and you have to wait. The service was only so-so. It’s a bit far from the city centre, though manageable, and for this price it’s fine.

I rented a studio for a year and loved it. The rooms are laid out well, there’s space for everyone in the flat, and the shared kitchen is really nice. Having people over is fine too. The staff are always friendly, quick to sort things out and responsive, often stopping for a smile or a little chat. I’d recommend the place to anyone studying in Liverpool.

My stay at Ablett house was great, and I’d recommend it. The roommates were decent apart from one who was unclean, but we managed to resolve that. I only wish each kitchen had a small vacuum for the rooms and kitchen. They provided a broom and dustpan, which weren’t great to use.

The room was huge, and the accommodation as a whole was nice. It was available for a cheap short stay, which was exactly what I needed. But the dirty kitchen ruined the experience. I had to sanitise the surfaces and my flip-flops every time I went in. When I raised it at reception, they said they’d email the flat. The communal area wasn’t cleaned until the day I moved out. They should fine students who don’t look after shared spaces, and clean before a new flatmate arrives. No one should have to feel as uncomfortable as I did. It’s a little far from the university, and Tesco deliveries in the morning make it noisy. That’s all.

The building is pretty good by Liverpool student housing standards, and it’s hard to find a cheaper place that’s better. The location is very convenient, the staff are helpful and pleasant, and the amenities are generally good. My mattress was the worst I’ve ever slept on. I didn’t ask for another one, so perhaps they might have replaced it if I had. I also think staff should check the apartments regularly, since that might encourage students to take better care of them. A few times staff came in for other reasons and didn’t seem bothered that my roommates smoked all day, every day, in a smoke-free building. It left me wondering whether the smoke detectors even worked.
