I travelled here from Grimsby on an Alfa coach holiday. Dave, our driver, kept us entertained without being too chatty. The hotel is right on the seafront, with comfortable rooms, a huge dining room and lots of lounge space split into smaller areas. There's also a small lounge bar, though it only opens for a limited time from noon. My single room had a good bed and a nice bathroom with an accessible shower that was easy to use. As a solo traveller, getting a single room wasn't easy, and mine looked out over skips. Bin smells came through the window, so I asked reception to find someone tall enough to shut it. They sorted it out, and I enjoyed the rest of my stay. The breakfast and dinner menus had plenty of variety, and the waiting staff served everything quickly and efficiently. Awa looked after us at table 9 with practised ease. There was a singer in the ballroom every night, which was more often than usual. One evening, Pete Holloway kept playing for me in an otherwise empty ballroom because I was the last person there. That kindness is what I'll remember most about the trip.

The hotel is beautiful, and our bedroom was large and modern. I understand the other bedrooms are due to be decorated over time. It's nicely placed for shoppers, with a big shopping centre just behind it. Ramona, Attila, who also worked in the bar, the restaurant team and reception staff were all lovely, quick and efficient. I took one star off because the shower only produced a trickle of water.

I spent five days at the Hydro and came home yesterday. The hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly, my room was comfortable and the food was very good. I'll definitely go back.

My parents, who are 90, have just come home from a wonderful few days at The Hydro and couldn't stop talking about their stay. Thank you for taking such good care of them. The rooms were comfortable, the food was great and the staff were so pleasant. They even had lunch ready while the rooms were being finalised, and gave Mum personal attention with a lovely cake and candle for her upcoming big birthday. The service was terrific.

We've just returned from a wonderful stay at the Hydro. The staff went the extra mile throughout, and the evening entertainment was a nice bonus. Breakfast had a first-class choice, and dinner was just as good, with different starters, salad or hot meal options, and a lovely selection of sweets. We had a lovely room with a sea view, a nice walk-in shower and good TV reception. The only disappointment was that we didn't win at Bingo, but that won't stop us booking again for next year.
