We had a lovely stay and will come back. The place is clean and tidy, and the staff are amazing, always ready to help. The food was lovely, especially the homemade soups, drinks were reasonably priced, and the evening entertainment was good. Our room was on the small side, but it was only for sleeping. It did get incredibly hot, like a sauna, so next time I’ll pack a fan! We were there for five days as part of a coach trip.

We had a great two-night stay and would definitely return. The hotel was affordable, the rooms very clean, and the food lovely. The staff were great and worked hard. There was entertainment every night, and the performers were very good and had a good sense of humour. We had some great evenings. It’s five minutes from the coast and pier, and Llandudno itself is beautiful.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location worked well, about five minutes’ walk to town and ten to the train station. Towels, soap, tea and coffee were supplied and topped up daily. The four free drinks each night were a nice bonus. I’d come back. Our room was clean and well equipped, though it could do with an update. On arrival, we were welcomed and told the meal times and which restaurant to use. We were assigned a table for every meal, which we shared with another person and didn’t mind. Breakfast ran from 8 to 9 and was a standard cooked or continental selection, though the toaster was very slow. Evening meals were from 6 to 7. We chose from a menu at breakfast, but the meals changed very little: chicken on Friday, turkey on Saturday and pork on Sunday. The food was OK. There wasn’t much to do until the entertainment began at 7:30, with bingo followed by a singer. We only stayed up for one night because we were exhausted, though the singer sounded great. The sound carried to the first floor but wasn’t too loud. The main letdown was a horrible smell that came and went in one part of the bar. We guessed a men’s toilet above it might be leaking, because the smell came back after someone flushed and seemed to be in the same area.

Our room, 127, had a comfortable bed, but its layout felt more like a corridor than a bedroom. It was on the first floor and included a Fire Escape. We weren’t told that during a fire alarm other people might have to come through our room. There were also four steps up and down to reach the bathroom. The kettle didn’t work when we arrived, so we couldn’t make a brew, but that was sorted quickly. At breakfast I found something in the baked beans that felt firmer than a scrap of paper. It was probably a tiny piece of metal from the tin, but it put me off the beans, and I didn’t have any the next day. I showed a picture and told a member of waiting staff, who didn’t seem particularly bothered. Breakfast was plentiful but a bit greasy, and the evening meals were OK.

We had a fabulous Caledonian trip from 6th to 9th February 2026, and would recommend it 100%. Guests from the North East, Yorkshire and elsewhere were sociable and made an effort to include everyone. The excursions were interesting despite the February weather in Wales, and the Sunday leisure day was easy to enjoy. The hotel is a five-minute walk from the seafront, flat promenade, shops and cafes, which is helpful for anyone with mobility issues. At The New Loretta, staff across reception, the bar, restaurant and housekeeping were organised and professional from check-in to check-out. They handled everything with a cheerful smile. We’d requested a ground-floor twin room with a walk-in shower because of our mobility and health issues, and that’s exactly what we got. It was clean, warm and nicely decorated, with a lovely double walk-in shower. The room was cleaned daily and tea, coffee, milk and other used items were replenished. We had the same table throughout, a great idea that avoids queues. Breakfast was plentiful, with cereal, juice, toast and a good selection of hot self-serve food. For dinner there were three choices each of starter, main and dessert. We ordered at breakfast. The food was superb, hot, tasty and plentiful, and dietary needs appeared to be well accommodated. Friday’s male singer and a couple of bingo games made for a really enjoyable night, with a good singalong and dancing. Sunday’s lady singer and bingo were brilliant too, a great end to the trip. We’d have paid extra to hear her. Saturday’s “entertainer” Jeff Page was the downer. Calling him an entertainer feels generous; he was like a poor karaoke singer. He was rude and obnoxious to another guest who’d simply enjoyed herself the night before, encouraging others to dance and join in. He had no talent or people skills, and wouldn’t let it go. He even came to the guests’ table and annoyed people sitting nearby. His behaviour was disgusting. Other guests also pointed out that the bingo payout that night was much lower than on the other two evenings. Make your own conclusions. The hotel really should replace him with someone more professional. Five stars to Caledonian and The New Loretta. Thank you. We’ll certainly be back.
