The fresh scones were tasty and easily the best part of the afternoon tea. The server was kind and gracious too, which I appreciated. The savory items, though, tasted premade and defrosted, and the desserts looked dull and seemed a day old. For a Relais & Châteaux property, I expected more care with freshness and quality. I was looking forward to the tea, but the visit got off to an odd start. I arrived Tuesday at 4:15 pm to an entirely empty room. When I asked for a table, the greeter said she had to check availability, then seated me a few moments later. There was no atmosphere or energy, but I'd walked 45 minutes and was hungry, so I stayed based on the reviews. When I told the server I was disappointed, he said nothing and just walked away!!! I really hope management reads this and makes a change. The food needs to be fresh, especially at 70GBP!!!

We were settled in a wonderfully warm, cosy spot by the fire, surrounded by a really historic setting. The staff were friendly and attentive, there was loads of tea, and the food was tasty.

The staff made the afternoon tea feel so special. Joynab and Ben were warm and welcoming, and I felt really appreciated. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed, not too formal, with a nice choice of savoury bites and sweets. The manager is lucky to have them on the team. Such great service, much love to everyone! Highly recommend.
