Acorn of London - Bedford Place Apartments

The room was roomy by local standards and nicely furnished. But it isn’t soundproof at all. On the weekend, even with earplugs, it felt like trying to sleep right out on the street.

For the price and location, it was a pretty good two-night stay. The beds and sheets were clean, and the beds were comfortable.

We spent four nights here, and the shower was faulty from the first night. It only gave scalding hot water, whatever setting we tried, so it was impossible to stand under and felt unsafe. We reported it that day and were told maintenance would look the next day. After that we reported it daily. Reception kept saying it had been fixed, but it hadn’t. Three different people from reception and housekeeping tested it and agreed it was faulty. At checkout we raised again that it still wasn’t fixed, and were rudely told we didn’t know how to use a shower. Apparently the three staff members who had tested it didn’t either. From other reviews, it seems they don’t care about fixing things, just taking your money. This was one of the worst customer experiences we’ve had. If I could give it one star, I would.

The room looked nothing like the platform photos. It was very old, the floor smelled strange, and the bathroom was dirty, with old bathing equipment that hadn’t been cleaned properly. When I reported the broken toilet, the front desk offered no fix and said I could share another toilet with the 10 residents in the other four rooms. I couldn’t accept the misleading presentation or the attitude, so I asked to cancel just the last two nights of my three-night booking, which seemed reasonable, and returned my keys to leave. The receptionist arrogantly refused, saying it went against policy. The next day I asked for the manager’s contact details, but they wouldn’t provide them and said, “the manager will not come back tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, I will not give you his contact information.” As a foreign visitor, I clearly felt the difference in how we were treated. They knew my stay was short and it was close to Christmas, and treated us in a way that felt completely rogue. Please don’t choose this hotel, or you may have a very bad experience.
