Selin A.
We used to choose Ibis on most of our trips and had good experiences, so we booked both London stays with them. After disappointing visits to Ibis Blackfriars and Ibis Styles Gloucester, we’ve decided not to stay at any Ibis again. We booked The Works room. Getting in involved high steps, which aren’t disability-friendly, though there were helpful handles. The reception setup looked odd and not very proper, just two small rounded bar tables. The blonde lady greeted us warmly, which was a great start. The room cleaning was below standard. The remote was extremely dusty, and there was ginger hair in the shower that definitely wasn’t ours. As at Ibis Blackfriars, there were no slippers or tissues, though this time there was water. The shower drain was awful, a recurring issue according to earlier reviews, and I don’t understand why it hasn’t been fixed. The standard shower head had laughable pressure, while the rain shower was excellent. But after about 15 seconds, water overflowed because the drain couldn’t cope. The water bottle provided kept disappearing after cleaning. The first time, reception said they’d give us another, which felt like they thought we’d taken the first one. We even offered to let them look around the room, since we couldn’t find it anywhere. When it vanished again, we assumed perhaps housekeeping took it away to clean and thought we’d need a fresh one from reception each day. But reception were just as puzzled about why it had gone missing again.

I’ve visited London many times since working there when I was younger, and I’ve always loved this area. It’s a great base for attractions, with Gloucester Tube, grocery shops, cafes, and restaurants in South Kensington about a 5-10 minute walk away. My room and bathroom were a good size, clean, and quiet enough for a great night’s sleep. The staff were polite, friendly, and helpful. A special mention for Sophie, plus Elena and Esmeret in the breakfast room. They cleared tables quickly and kept the trays topped up. I’ll be back in London and will stay here again.

Gloucester Road station is right across from the hotel, and the V&A, Natural History Museum, and Harrods are all within walking distance. I liked the London Underground theme and the hotel’s style. My room was small, but that’s typical for London and it suited my two-night stay. The aircon stopped working, but the staff sorted it out within minutes. Some body lotion and a shower cap would have been nice, though I managed without. A lovely little find in the heart of South Ken / Gloucester Road, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The room was just right for me, though it would be a squeeze for more than one person with luggage. I’d booked a standard double and was upgraded to one with a patio, which was a lovely surprise. The Transport for London decor is really cute, and the continental breakfast was lovely. It’s a budget-friendly hotel in the heart of South Kensington, very close to the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, and the stunning V&A. The location is lively, with easy trips to Heathrow and central London, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I’d definitely come back next time I’m in London.

We could easily walk to lovely pubs, and the Tube was close by too. The hotel’s front area felt welcoming, a nice spot to pause and watch the city go by. Our room was small, as expected, but worked perfectly for three nights. Breakfast was in a pleasant room, and staff kept everything neat and topped up. Loved the decor.
