The welcome card in my room was a lovely touch, but the surprise on the desk was the real standout: a Willy Wonka chocolate bar. I unwrapped it and found a golden ticket. Whether it was clever marketing or sheer luck, I don't know, but it gets you access to a special bar experience, which I won't spoil. Definitely use it. I'd finally stayed at The London EDITION in November after walking past the Berners Street beauty countless times, and it was a very pleasant surprise. The lobby made an immediate impression, vast, elegant and stylish. A towering Christmas tree made it feel especially magical. The layout was intuitive, with the bar to the left, restaurant to the right and reception straight ahead. It felt polished without being intimidating, very EDITION. My room category escapes me, probably Deluxe King, and it wasn't quite ready when I arrived. I left my suitcase at reception and went out. By 1:40pm I had a text saying it was ready. That seamless, thoughtful service always scores highly with me. Beyond reception, the lifts were down a corridor, with a moody speakeasy-style bar on the left, all deep tones, leather armchairs and intimate vibes, and the lift lobby opposite. It was a nice preview of the hotel's layered personality. The room was bright, calm and beautifully designed, with light wood walls and floors giving it an airy modern feel. I didn't spend as much time in there as I would have liked, but it was extremely comfortable and quietly luxurious. The artwork and cosy faux-fur throw made it warm and indulgent rather than formal. We had drinks in the lobby bar and Alkit looked after us wonderfully, adding fun and personality to the evening. The large open fire was inviting on a cold night. We briefly checked out the darker, moodier speakeasy bar, ideal for intimate conversations, but our group preferred the energy of the main bar. I also peeked into the restaurant but didn't have time to eat there. It looked stunning and refined, and is on my list for next time. The London EDITION exceeded my expectations, stylish, welcoming and full of personality. I'll be back. If you enjoy five-star hotels, check out my other reviews.
