The location was handy, right by Aldgate East station, about 30m away, with a Ramen restaurant next door. We stayed June 10-14th, three people, breakfast included, in a room on level 8 with two queen-size beds and a standing bath shower. The housekeeping was prompt and kept the room in tip-top condition. Breakfast at Grill had hot and cold English dishes. The first day was great, but the selection stayed the same every day, so after four days we were picking just a few things. It was nice that the chef could make different kinds of eggs; some new dishes on alternate days would have been welcome. We had a lot of luggage and took an Uber. There isn't a hotel drop-off point because it's inside a walkway. You can be dropped at Buckle Street and wheel your bags through the yard, or use Commercial Road. If you don't have the Uber app, you can book one from the kiosk at reception. Nice city hotel, and we'd stay again on our next London trip.

Filip gave me a warm, friendly welcome, and Rory made all the arrangements go smoothly. The room itself was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a cosy feel that made me feel at home. The tea and coffee station was a nice touch, and everything seemed thoughtfully set up for a relaxing stay. The temperature was just right and the bed was extremely comfortable, so I slept really well. I had a wonderful stay, would definitely recommend the hotel and look forward to coming back.

The hotel was great, very clean, and the reception staff were great too. The problem was checkout. From 9:45am onward, cleaners came into my room every five minutes. At about 10:30am one asked if I wasn't checking out that day. I said I was, but checkout was at 11 and I was still packing. They then hurried me along. Everything else was good, just be aware the cleaners may want you out before 11.

The room was clean and modern, and the bed was comfortable. Hot water was fine and the fan worked well. The TV was hit or miss, as if the connection or signal needed attention, and the welcome screen didn't work. The fridge or cooling box was pointless, it didn't get cold at all. A bit pricey for what you get, but I was happy overall.

The breakfast was the highlight for me, easily one of the best I've had at a hotel in this category. There was lots of choice, including healthy options, full English favourites and a separate gluten-free section. The breakfast team were friendly, attentive and professional. My stay began with a very pleasant, professional welcome from the staff. The rooms are nicely decorated, comfortable and well equipped. I'd definitely recommend Clayton Hotel City of London and would be happy to stay again.
