Holiday Inn Express London - Wimbledon South by IHG

The room was clean and comfortable, with a kettle, cups, and tea and coffee, and everyone we met was friendly. Room prices are good for the area, so it felt worth the money. There isn’t much for vegetarians at breakfast, and you can sometimes hear people in the corridors. Parking costs £20 for the night, which is steep, though there isn’t much parking around there, so it feels necessary.

The breakfast staff were friendly and greeted people as they arrived, which was a nice touch. The cooked breakfast was good, though there wasn’t much choice, and there were no yogurts when I stayed. The room needed painting, the paintwork was in poor shape, and the sofa bed looked a bit worn. The hairdryer kept cutting in and out, and on one day the milk for tea and coffee wasn’t replaced. The stay was OK overall.

I’ve been here on business for three weeks and can’t see myself switching hotels soon. It’s in a great spot beside the tube station, with a large stretch of green space just behind it. The staff have all been wonderful and helpful, the WiFi works very well throughout, and the air conditioning is excellent. The reception and bar area is nicely laid out, and there’s BT Sport on the TV, though Holiday Inn doesn’t have Sky. The hotel is basic and starting to look dated, but it’s clean. There’s no fridge in the room and no plug near the bed, which is irritating. Breakfast isn’t being served at the moment, but they offer a takeaway bag that usually has a yogurt, muffin and croissant.

Clean and calm, with restaurants, pubs, shops and a nice park nearby. The breakfast was decent and good. The location is excellent, just 20 metres from the London Tube. The beds could do with being renewed, so I can’t give it five stars. For the price, though, I’d recommend the hotel.
