Breakfast was excellent, fresh and well prepared, with everything an adult would need for a full meal. I liked being able to watch the kitchen staff cooking while serving myself, and one of the kitchen employees was especially polite and friendly. The area felt safe and quiet, and the location near King’s Cross station made getting around London extremely easy. A special thank you to Pato for all the care, kindness and attention during our stay. We did have two very serious problems. In room 2062, the presence sensor malfunctioned and kept cutting all the electricity, including the lights, outlets and air conditioning, even when we were inside. I went to reception four times trying to get it resolved. On the last visit, the receptionist on duty, who I believe was named Yasmin, treated me extremely poorly. We were both stressed by the ongoing issue, but instead of trying to help, she told me things like “Find another hotel,” “I don’t have available rooms,” and “I can’t solve your problem,” among other inappropriate comments. Other staff later apologized for the incident, but the employee involved never came to apologize or try to make amends for her extremely unprofessional behavior. This made what could have been a perfect trip very stressful. We stayed only because we no longer had the money or time to completely rearrange our plans.
There are plenty of restaurants at Pancras Square and Coal Drops Yard, and the location at Kings Cross is great. St Pancras International (Eurostar) and King's Cross Stations (Tube & National Rail) are practically a stone's throw away. The rooms are small, even the largest one, but you can opt for the “larger” room if you want more space. Service @ hub was friendly and helpful. You can help yourself to complimentary tea and coffee in the dining area, and the coffee's good. The rooms are nicely renovated, the king beds are really comfortable, and we felt safe with key card access to each floor. Check-out is at 12pm, and you can leave your bags there free of charge and collect them later.
The biggest changes we noticed when we came back a year later were the improved service and breakfast. Staff were welcoming, helpful and positive, and breakfast was better managed with several product upgrades. We have stayed here many times, and at this price in such a great location, it's a winner. Tens across the board!
We arrived late on the Eurostar and left early, so the cheap price and great location suited us perfectly. Self check-in and check-out made everything easy. It was a good base for a weekend exploring London: no frills, but clean, quiet and modern. You get what you pay for. Staff didn't always go out of their way to greet us or smile, but they were available when I spoke to them at the bar or asked a question. I'm not sure I'd stay again, as it would depend on my plans for another London visit. I'd recommend it if good value and easy access to the Eurostar are what you need.
The location is handy for the train station and other transport, and the street felt safe, though it was a bit quiet at night. I chose the larger room, which was good value for the price and comfortable for two, with a king-size bed, desk, unusual chair and plenty of luggage space. Breakfast cost £6 and was worth it, with fresh fruit, yoghurt, porridge, croissants, juices, sausages, scrambled eggs and more. You can also help yourself to tea and coffee any time. The bathroom was clean, though the shower door is a little narrow and might be inconvenient for larger guests. The carpet is starting to look worn, and the lights can only be switched off from the bedside, which isn't very practical. I'd definitely stay here again.
