Montcalm Brewery, London City

For the past two years, we've chosen Montcalm Brewery London City for every special occasion, and it's become our place in London. The whole team is polite, attentive, and welcoming, and the atmosphere manages to feel both luxurious and relaxed. Service is warm, genuine, and professional from the moment you arrive, and nothing feels like too much trouble. A special thanks to Christian, Sonel and Romona. They remember the little things, pay such close attention, and go out of their way to make each stay feel personal. Their kindness makes us feel valued, not like just another guest. We wouldn't book elsewhere in London without checking availability here first. Beautiful surroundings and a team that truly cares make this a place we'd recommend. We're already looking forward to the next special occasion with you all!

We stayed for a wedding, and the emails we sent to different Duty managers in the run up were answered quickly. The welcome at the hotel, reception, and consiege service were all friendly. We had Club rooms, which gave us access to the lounge. It was a nice place to meet up with the other guests before going to dinner, and the staff there were friendly and quick to help. The pianist was fabulous. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh. When it got busy, service could be slow and orders sometimes got forgotten, but the restaurant manager who showed us to our seats kept on top of things. They were also happy to use my specialist milk to make me an iced Latte. The hotel is great and has quick links to the tube. There was one disappointment. Friends called ahead to pay for a chilled bottle of champagne and leave a card in our room for arrival. Instead, the bottle was warm and came with a card from everyone at the hotel. We only found out about the friends' arrangement when we got home and they asked if we'd received it.

The smooth check-in was thanks in part to Hazera at reception. She was professional and helpful, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was right. All the staff were welcoming, friendly, and attentive throughout my stay. Montcalm Brewery is a beautiful hotel, blending modern comfort with historic charm, and it was a relaxing place to unwind. I had a thoroughly pleasant stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, enjoyable hotel. I hope to return.

The hotel worked really well for visiting the Barbican, which is just around the corner. There are taxis nearby, a bus stop right outside, and the nearest tube is less than a ten minute walk. We even walked leisurely to the Tower of London in about thirty minutes. The hotel was clean and pleasant, and the breakfast buffet had plenty of good options. Staff were helpful and friendly. We arrived early, and they let us leave our bags with the concierge while we went to lunch, then called as soon as the room was ready. A couple of room issues came up, a few bulbs were out, there was no TV remote, and the safe didn't work. They dealt with these within minutes of us reporting them, which was good, but I still didn't trust the safe repair and chose not to use it. There was also confusion about The Jugged Hare, across the street from the town houses. Reception told us it was affiliated with the hotel, but after we returned from the west end on a Friday night, the doorman turned us away at 10.25pm, saying they weren't taking any newcomers. We told him we were hotel guests and he replied, "we are nothing to do with the hotel!" We'd been in on earlier nights and noticed they seemed keen to close by 11pm, sometimes even earlier. Being turned away at 10.25 was very disappointing. Maybe reception or the doorman had the wrong information, but it's definitely not your average London pub.
