Shepiston Lodge Heathrow

For a one-night stop, this is a pleasant little B&B. It's basic but clean, and the beds were comfortable. The location works very well for Heathrow. We did have a very noisy room vent overnight because of strong winds, and the shower head was broken. You get what you pay for.

I stayed in an en-suite single room before an interview. It was small but comfortable, with the essentials: a good mattress and pillows, a decent bedcover, Freeview TV, tea, coffee and biscuits, a kettle, heater, fan, and a cupboard with hangers. I made good use of the free Wi-Fi. The road outside can be average to busy, but inside it was peaceful. The couple running the place were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was nice. I was very pleased with the value and would stay again.

I won't be coming back. The staff weren't helpful and didn't seem trained in customer care. The rooms were basic and mostly clean, but the bathrooms weren't. There were huge spiders in the room on both occasions, though I guess that could just be a coincidence. There's a huge car park, but they charge £8 to use it even though free parking is only 3 metres from the building. Not a great place to stay.

The en-suite toilet was broken when we arrived: the cistern didn't work, it wouldn't flush, and there was excrement in the bowl. A staff member twice misled us about changing rooms. First we were told to return to reception at 10 pm when the manager would be there, but when we came at 9:55, reception was shut and all the staff had gone home. We were also told we'd get a partial refund for the car-parking fee, which was all I asked for given what had happened. I'm still waiting. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else.
