Stamford Street Apartments

The first room faced the main road and was really noisy at night. I mentioned it to staff the next morning, and they moved me straight away at no extra cost. The bed was comfortable, and the apartments supplied towels and shower gel. Breakfast was included, with lots of different choices. It's a really cheap, great place to stay right by Waterloo station, with trains and the underground nearby. I'd definitely come back when I'm in London.

Lovely staff, a safe place, and a very good location. The linen and towels were perfectly clean, and although the bathroom was simple and old, it was clean too. There was plenty of room for clothes. The rug looked like it hadn't seen a vacuum cleaner, and the chair was a bit disgusting. Bring earplugs to sleep.

Breakfast had a nice range, including cereal, oatmeal, hot drinks, juice, pastries, bread, cheese, boiled eggs and fruit. There was even a gluten-free section. The place was very clean, and the location and staff were great. The walls are fairly thin, though, so sounds like talking and coughing carry over from next door.

The breakfast was disappointing on our last morning: the baskets were empty, nobody was refilling them, and I was told they had run out. The room itself was extremely cramped for two, more like single occupancy despite being described to me as a superior small double. Photos on the website would have helped set expectations. There were no wardrobes or chair, and the mattress was in very poor condition. We were given just one key, so the two of us had to stay together all the time. I asked to change rooms because the first one had a blocked sink and a puddle of water. At first I was told maintenance would fix it in the morning, but after I insisted, they moved us. The windows were very outdated, and piles of rubbish outside brought several mosquitoes into the room. On the way from reception, I had to pass a laundry area that always smelled bad.
