The Ampersand Hotel - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

South Kensington is a great area to stay in. There are coffee shops, juice spots and a local farmers market nearby, and it’s the sort of neighborhood that makes you want to walk around and explore. For us, the location made the trip even better. The team at The Ampersand Hotel were the other real highlight. The front desk made check-in easy, offered thoughtful recommendations, and were professional while still feeling genuinely welcoming. The restaurant team were just as good, with attentive, well-paced service that felt relaxed rather than rushed or intrusive. There’s a real sense of pride in how they work. We had a fantastic stay. Great property, lovely people, and we’d happily come back. I’d recommend it to couples or families.

I'm here on business, and the location suits a traveling entrepreneur like me perfectly. Transit, restaurants, bakeries, banks, flower shops and beautiful streets are all close by. It seems like a great spot for a couple too, though I have higher expectations when I'm traveling solo. I love the peaceful feel, the view, the clean room and the service. There are nice personal touches, like a Marshall amplifier for a speaker in the bedroom. As a musician and creative person, I enjoy the artwork, books and photography on the walls. The bathroom is lovely, with Mallon + Goetz products, a brand I really love. There’s also a great selection of teas, a hot water dispenser and, of course, a teapot for boiling water in the room. I drink a lot of tea, so that makes me happy. The whole stay is shaping up to be shockingly amazing.

The staff were so friendly and helpful when a personal situation came up during my visit and I needed to extend my stay. They kept checking in to see whether things were getting sorted, and I couldn’t have asked for more support. The location is brilliant too, with plenty to do nearby and easy connections to the rest of the city. The tube station is practically next door, and there are bus stops and a taxi rank right outside. I’ll definitely return.

We stayed at the Ampersand hotel twice over the past couple of weeks, and it’s going to be our hotel for future visits. The location is ideal, right beside South Kensington train station and within easy walking distance of major museums, shops, restaurants and sights. The rooms are generous, thoughtfully furnished and well appointed. Both times, we were upgraded to super rooms. The staff were warm and welcoming, remembered us, and greeted us whenever we walked by. They even stored our luggage for 12 days while we travelled through Europe. We loved our stays and will be back for sure.
