The Pilot

We picked The Pilot for its location near the O2 and were very happy with the stay. The room was lovely and had everything we needed, and the place is only about a 10 minute walk from the O2 and the cable cars. We had a delicious, well-priced dinner before heading out, and got 10% off as guests. We had to leave early to catch our trains home, so we couldn’t sit down for breakfast. The gentleman checking us out showed us the help-yourself buffet and invited us to take whatever we liked for the journey. The croissant I took was a welcome train snack. Everyone we met at The Pilot was lovely and welcoming, and the price was very reasonable for the location. I’d highly recommend it and will definitely stay again. 10/10.

The room was clean, quaint, and lovely, and this is a great place to stay for the O2 arena. Breakfast ends at 10am, and we arrived right then because nobody had told us. The Chef was really kind and still catered for us, so it all worked out. The staff were lovely, and I’d definitely stay again.

After more than 10 years as a regular customer, I was extremely disappointed by how I was treated on 24/04/2026. I’ve visited regularly with my family, including my children, and we’ve always behaved respectfully. We usually sit somewhere quieter and just want to enjoy a meal. On this visit, we sat down and were about to order food and drinks when an Assistant Manager came over and told me I wouldn’t be served and had to leave. There had been no issue at the time, so this came as a complete surprise. When I asked why, I was told it was about something from around two months earlier. A couple had made inappropriate, offensive comments to my child, and I asked them to stop. There was no escalation. No staff member spoke to me, raised a concern, or gave me a warning then, and the person who later complained left without any action being taken. If there really was a concern, it should have been addressed at the time. Refusing me service entirely much later, without any earlier discussion, is hard to understand. I calmly asked for a written explanation during this latest visit, but that was refused. I stayed seated with my children for around 20-30 minutes while trying to understand what was happening, and we caused no disturbance. I was also told that “staff do not wish to serve me.” That doesn’t fit my long record of positive interactions there. Even a former staff member who knows us personally greeted us warmly that day, which makes it seem there’s never been a general problem. I understand venues can refuse service for safety concerns, intoxication, or disruptive behaviour, but none of that applied. We were calm and respectful and just wanted to order food. Being turned away in front of my children without a proper explanation or prior warning felt unfair and badly handled. I hope management reviews the situation properly.

There’s nowhere else in the area with this kind of traditional pub feel, and The Pilot is a welcome break from the concert goers, shoppers, and tourists. The service is friendly and attentive, the drink selection is good, and the food is exceptional, especially the roasts. There’s outdoor space and TVs for watching sports too. I couldn’t praise this pub enough.
