You’re definitely paying for the location, close to the London Eye and metro stations. We stayed in the two-bed room, which was okay, but the windows wouldn’t close all the way. The metro noise late at night and from 6am on weekdays was really unpleasant. Bring noise-cancelling headphones if you stay, or get drunk so you can sleep, lol. The rug was really old. I think investing in a decent one would change the place a bit. The bathroom isn’t cleaned often, so you can imagine what it’s like. Breakfast in the morning was a nice part of the stay. The staff were okay, and the lady cleaning the rooms and bathroom in the morning was super nice.

The best things about this hostel were the breakfast, which was decent, and the splendid location for getting around. As for the rest, I’d only stay here if there were no other options, you’d booked your London trip at short notice and were on a budget. The showers were disastrous. There was nowhere to put your things, the sinks took ages to drain, and not all the showers worked, so I had to wash on other floors for 2 of my 3 nights. The room had a weird smell. Booking a bigger room seemed to have more advantages than booking one with fewer people: our room had no curtains or lockers. The room for 6 had 4 working lockers, and only 2 had space for a big backpack. NONE of them could fit a carry-on. We had just one very dim light, so it was impossible to find anything in your suitcase with it. Try to get your stuff sorted before noon. The last problem was staff not being aware of their online advertisement. I had to speak to 3 people to get free towels because I booked through their website, and they just couldn’t understand it, or just wanted me to pay £2 for towels.

The location was really great, with a bus stop right outside the door, a big plus. They also let us check in early, and breakfast was included, with cereals, milk, juice, toast and more. We were in a mixed 20-bed room and slept decently. Can’t complain, though it really depends on who you’re sharing with. Had a great stay at the walrus bar and hostel and will definitely stay again when we visit London.

For a quick, cheap overnight stop when you’ll be spending most of your time and money out and about, this hostel is amazing value. It’s right next to Waterloo, and just around the corner from the Leake St graffitti tunnel, with the Thames and bridges to the north side only minutes away on foot. It was my first time staying in a hostel in London, and I was pleasantly surprised. I booked an 8 share mixed dorm, but there were only 6 guests for the one night I stayed. One person snored, but each bed had ear plugs, so it wasn’t too much of a disturbance. There’s a really cool shared kitchen that I’d use if I stayed for a few days, and the spacious bar area has a friendly hostel vibe. They’ve got a gorgeous doggie there too. I’d highly recommend it if you need a cheap place for the night, why pay over the odds for a hotel room you’ll only use for a few hours?

The staff made my stay at The Walrus Bar & Hostel even better, especially the reception team, who were kind, polite, and always happy to help. I was there for two nights and really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the location beside Waterloo Station put us right in the heart of London. Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and great service. I’d happily come back and recommend it to anyone visiting London.
