We came as a group of 11 family members. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the food came out promptly, hot, and delicious despite the kitchen having a lot on its hands. The menu covered everything from kids' nuggets and chips to pizza, burgers, lasagne, and steak. I had the pulled pork burger and it was lush. The patty was thick and cooked well, still juicy, with plenty of tasty pulled pork on top. The triple-cooked chips were crisp outside and fluffy inside. We'll definitely return. The only downside was no dessert menu. I suggested to the man behind the bar that they could perhaps add ice cream or frozen apple pies. I understand fresh cakes might not be practical or financially viable for a smallish pub out in the sticks.

The Sunday lunch was amazing, with barely enough room on the plate for everything. The team were cheerful, friendly, and accommodating, and the chef went above and beyond. I threw a few curveballs at them and they handled them brilliantly. The bar staff deserve a mention too for their positivity and effort. We also had takeaway pizza and cheesy garlic bread, both awesome. We're already looking forward to trying the loaded hotdog fries and will definitely return. We hadn't visited before, and the previous owners apparently didn't get much of a rating. The new owners are doing a real job of bringing the pub back. On our first visit we had a cracking pint of Guinness and a very welcoming landlord. It's dog, kid, and women friendly, and the locals made us feel welcome. We came back later to try the menu. Five stars indeed.

The only reason this gets one star is because I had to give it one. Otherwise it'd be zero. The meal took over an hour to arrive, and it was by far the worst pub meal I've ever had. It came in plastic baskets and foil trays, which put me off completely, and the mushy peas with the scampi were dry. Disgusting. The lady who served us was professional and polite, the only good thing about it. The lad at the bar kept giving us the dead eye and was clearly talking about us to another staff member, which made us feel very uncomfortable. Very, very poor. I would not recommend it to anyone. Who serves pub meals in foil trays and plastic baskets?

It's a nice oldy worldie country pub, with good beer at reasonable prices and friendly locals and staff. We popped in on Saturday evening to ask about booking the Sunday Carvery advertised outside as happening every Sunday. They said it might not be on that week. That's why I'm giving five stars: they explained what was going on, said the Landlady could confirm when she got back, and offered to ring us so we didn't have to wait around. That's good customer service. We stayed for a drink and some karaoke, but had to head back. I could've stayed all night. The building's nice, but it's the people who make it awesome. Worth a visit. Tell them Gary sent you. No discount, but I'd be really interested in their response.

The food and drinks were spot on and very well priced. The weather was great, so we sat out in the sun, chatting away with the managers. We'll return.
