The Ascott

For a short overnight stop, this was really good value. The price was great, and my room was lovely, very clean, with a comfy bed.

We'd driven four hours from London, after calling the hotel several times with no answer. When we got there, the place was completely closed. After more calls, someone finally picked up and said nobody could let us in, so we'd have to find somewhere else to stay. Being turned away from a place we'd booked and paid for after that journey was horrible and unacceptable. How can they take bookings and money when guests can't get inside? This is not a real hotel. Avoid it if you value your time, money and sanity. They shouldn't be allowed to operate as a hotel. 11/11/2025 Dear Owner, My reservation was made through Super.com, not Booking.com. Other reviews suggest several customers have had this problem too. Please sort it out and refund all the payments immediately.

I can't stay there because check-in is only between 4 and 9 PM, and I can't get there during those hours. Once you've booked, you also can't cancel, even if you realise you've made a mistake. The owner has used that policy to take advantage of guests. Be careful!

The parking round the back is very tight. It took me a while to get out, so I parked at the front instead and had no more trouble. The rooms were clean, the facilities really good, and the staff very, very friendly. I was surprised how much this lovely hotel offered for the money. Had a really good stay at the Ascott.
