The chef made what was probably the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever eaten, and the prices were reasonable. We were lucky enough to visit twice while staying nearby. It’s a stunning 16th-century pub in the heart of the village, dog-friendly, with plenty of tables and a wide choice of drinks. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and the big log burner was lovely when it got chilly. Great experience, highly recommended.

A picture-postcard pub in a beautiful village, with a nice choice of drinks and great service. The menu is fairly simple, but it’s done well, and that’s what matters. Lovely.

It was a busy Sunday lunch, but the food was good. They’d run out of beef, which was a shame, so I had the scampi instead. It was still very tasty.

It’s a lovely historic pub, but the service was painfully slow and seemed very disinterested. The staff appeared more interested in talking to friends than serving customers. I ordered one toasted ciabata sandwich, which took nearly an hour to arrive. It was cold, and the cheddar hadn’t melted at all. There were no other customers ordering food.

After walking the canal, we stopped for Sunday lunch. The food was amazing, proper Sunday lunch, and the staff were helpful and polite. The young lad serving us was great and couldn’t do enough.
