The Tiger Inn

We held a Celebrant training course in the beautiful Palm room at The Tiger Inn this week, and what a week it was. Sarah and the team were incredible, nothing was too much trouble. We felt like family by the time we left. The food was amazing, and the bed was so comfy. Thanks so much for having us. Sarah, next time! We stayed one night as a couple. The room was reasonably clean, and the hotel is very close to both the bus station and train station. But I wouldn’t recommend it, as there are plenty of other places in the city. Our booking email clearly said a complimentary breakfast sandwich was included. When I asked, a staff member said it had been a Christmas special and had long since been removed from the website. I showed her the email; she admitted it shouldn’t have been sent but wouldn’t provide breakfast, just apologised. Terrible customer service. Check-in details were also inconsistent: one email said 11:00, but when we arrived around 14:00 we were told check-in was at 15:00. Fortunately, the room was ready early. There was no handwash or soap, and the shower gel was almost empty when we arrived. We booked for two but had only one cup, and it was dirty with lipstick stains. The ensuite mirror light didn’t work. The towels were stained and smelled really bad. I think they’d been washed, but perhaps dried or stored improperly.

The location is very central, and the prices are decent. Parking is only a two-minute walk away, and breakfast options are affordable. The decor is beautiful, quirky, and has its own unique character. The rooms are comfortable, and the staff are really friendly and accommodating. I’d definitely recommend it.

Sarah and Phil were fantastic hosts. We arrived very late on a road trip to Bike Park Wales, but Sarah had checked in with us beforehand so she could let the night porter know. Phil greeted us when we arrived and was easygoing, friendly, and helpful. We enjoyed our pints and chats with him, and he let us keep our bikes in the lockable garage. Our twin/bunk room had enough space and was comfortable and clean, with everything working. Breakfast was very nice and the coffee was great. Highly recommend.
