Owlscombe really does look just like it does online, which is rare for a holiday home. From the moment we arrived, the house, sea views and garden made us feel relaxed. Stuart was very helpful, and there were delicious cakes, wine and cheese waiting for us. Porlock Weir and Porlock are charming, unspoilt places with local shops and plenty of places to eat. Exmoor is beautiful, as is Dulverton, and Tarr Steps is a must on a warm day. This was our tenth visit to the area. Be sure to have a cream tea at Selworthy. Owlscombe is a dream of a house and a very special place to spend a holiday.

We’ve just got home from four wonderful nights at Owlscombe for my dad’s 75th birthday, and I didn’t want to leave. It was peaceful and luxurious, a perfect place for our family to spend time together and make precious memories. The dogs loved having so much outdoor space to explore. Every room had lovely finishes and thoughtful touches, with everything we needed and more. The hosts had considered every detail, and I loved that the renovation had made the house eco-friendly. The views are stunning from every angle. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were decorated to a high standard, with comfortable beds, lovely bedding and luxurious towels. The welcome hamper was the best I’ve ever had, packed with local cheeses, bread, wine and cakes. I couldn’t fault the house or the hosts, and I hope to come back one day.

We spent most of our break in the house, just looking out at the sea. We’d seen the views in photos, but they were even better in person. There’s loads of room throughout, so we weren’t under each other’s feet, and the place was immaculately clean. The hosts had left plenty of books and games, and the playroom kept the children busy. The beds were incredibly comfortable, with lovely duvet covers, and the bathroom towels were the fanciest I’ve ever used. There were luxurious touches all over, including a sky box so we didn’t miss the sports, plus local cheese, bread and cakes waiting when we arrived. It’s clear a lot of thought went into making guests comfortable. We loved every second, made wonderful memories, and are already talking about booking again. 11/10. Thank you, Owlscombe!

We stayed for one night to visit family who were already there. The house is amazing inside and out, with great views across the Bristol Channel to Wales on the horizon. It was self-catering, and Porlock is a picturesque village with enough amenities for a stay. The beds were very comfortable, and the shower facilities and huge, soft towels were great. We’d definitely stay again.

The holiday let’s garden was an unexpected bonus, with lots of interesting unusual plants as well as familiar favourites. The house itself is stunning and has great views across the Bristol Channel.
