Being right in the town centre made it easy to walk everywhere. It’s a lovely little place, and the room, though small, had good facilities. I appreciated the tea and coffee, water and juices, and the owner even helped with my very heavy luggage, which he didn’t have to do. I was disappointed to find out they weren’t serving breakfast for family reasons, especially since I hadn’t been told beforehand. There was no alternative or compensation offered. The bigger issue for me was the cat smell on the stairs and first floor. I have friends with lots of cats and don’t smell them at their homes, but here I could smell the cat downstairs before I saw it upstairs. It may suit other people, but unfortunately I wouldn’t come back.

My room was spotless, peaceful and had everything I needed. The owners were so thoughtful, even leaving oat milk sachets and providing gluten-free and dairy-free options for my poor digestive system. They use local products, and there was also a generous little basket of biscuits and sodas. I’ve never seen owners be so generous. Thanks for hosting me, Gordon. I’ll definitely return with friends and family.

Euan was a great host, and we loved our stay at Bamse in Montrose. A real hidden gem in the north east!

Gordon was so welcoming and helpful, and I’d love to come back and try the breakfast. In my room, the local lemonades and biscuits were a lovely touch, as was the option of oat milk with tea or coffee. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I had the best sleep in ages. The room was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean, and the bathroom was just as clean. The shower had great pressure too. Really, I couldn’t fault the stay. Thank you :)

The owners have a great place with comfortable beds and lots of room. It’s near the high street, with really good amenities and a prime location. We’ll definitely book it again next time we visit.
