The room was a decent size, with a nice large TV and a functional bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel was clean, though some of the room’s paintwork was badly done. Check-in felt awkward: there wasn’t really a welcome or an explanation of breakfast, and no booklet with hotel or WiFi information. Breakfast was the biggest letdown. My partner and I were asked to choose a time, which was fine, but when we arrived on time nobody explained that it was a buffet or showed us how to use the coffee machine. A man eventually appeared but didn’t greet us, ask how our night was, or check whether we needed anything. I felt very uncomfortable. This hotel isn’t worth the money.

The room was a good size, with a big comfortable bed and an en-suite with a fantastic shower. Breakfast was a very good continental spread. Mrs Shen was great, and even got up early to sort out breakfast for me because I had to leave for work. I’d like to stay again, and would recommend taking a look if you need somewhere to stay in Newhaven.

Parking and free Wi-Fi were available, and the garden had a cosy seating area. The location was quiet, though there wasn’t a good restaurant within walking distance. The Italian place nearby wasn’t good, so I wouldn’t recommend it. Breakfast was excellent, with a choice of English or continental food, including scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, toast and plenty more. The hostess was very friendly. The rooms were excellent too, with very comfortable beds, sockets for two-pin plugs, free slippers and shower gel. Entry to the rooms was by keycard, and the front door used a code.
