The Rosery

Our dog was made very welcome while our other dog was having surgery at a local vet. We were allowed to bring the dog into the bar, where a table was set up especially for us while other guests ate in the restaurant. The meals were excellent, especially the vegetables, so kudos to the chef, and breakfast was lovely too. Rob and Allan were particularly good with customer service. They let us remain at the hotel the following day while we waited to hear how the operation had gone. The house and grounds are lovely and full of period character. The only issue was the loose flags in the car park, which rattled when cars drove over them. That might only be a problem for guests in the separate coach house rooms. Everything else was excellent.

The rooms are dated, but the decor makes them very nicely presented. Staff were cheerful and helped whenever we needed anything. The rear garden is lovely, and looks like it’d be a great place to sit on a hot summer’s day. For the price, it’s hard to find better value, and we’ll stay again when we’re in the area. The little one didn’t wake once during the night, another plus.

The staff were superb, friendly and attentive without getting in the way. Our rooms were fantastic, well equipped, and looked out over the gardens, which suited us and our dogs perfectly. I couldn’t find a fault if I tried, and we’ll definitely look at booking again when we’re in the area.

My partner loved the vegan burger and reckoned it was the best he'd ever tried. We had a lovely lunch, the food was great, and Alan, the manager, was so friendly and accommodating. We’ll be back soon. Thanks, highly recommend.
