I had to leave and book a room at a Premier Inn for the same price because neither of the rooms I was moved to was clean enough to stay in. The bedding was stained and covered in hairs, there was black mould in the shower, and a chair had brown marks that looked like faecal matter. These are basic hygiene issues that should never happen in paid accommodation. The response from staff at Travelodge Newquay made things worse. They told me they “couldn’t do anything” and gave me several phone numbers instead of taking responsibility. Only one number worked. When I reached someone, they said escalating the issue was the hotel staff’s job, and that clearly hadn’t happened. I was left without support after raising serious concerns during my stay. Travelodge later acknowledged that the rooms hadn’t been properly cleaned, but at first refused a refund on the basis of the “Saver rate” terms. I kept escalating the complaint and involved my bank before they issued a partial refund. I’m still pursuing a full refund for accommodation I couldn’t use. The complaints process felt faceless and dismissive. I’m genuinely shocked this is associated with the Travelodge brand. For a seaside town that depends on tourism, the standard at Travelodge Newquay is unacceptable. I’d strongly advise booking elsewhere unless you’re prepared for dirty rooms, poor management, and staff unwilling to take responsibility when things go wrong.

We had a pleasant two-night stay and will definitely book again. The room was tidy and smelled clean, and the bedding, towels and bathroom were clean too. The TV and phone both worked. The lobby, stairs, lifts and corridors were neat and clear of obstructions. Reception staff were professional, helpful and offered tea, coffee, milk, sugar and condiments. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for someone to come to the desk when we arrived, as the staff member was alone and handling several things. They offer online booking so you can book your room ahead; I believe they don’t like taking walk-ins. They also serve hot meals, but we didn’t eat there, so I can’t comment on that. Thanks, Travelodge Newquay. We’ll visit again.

We did have a decent sea view, but the windows were extremely dirty. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel and won’t stay again. We arrived in Newquay early on Saturday (24/1/26) for a night away, so we asked about checking in early. After waiting 20 minutes for someone to come to reception, a lovely staff member said it would cost £20. We decided to wait until 2pm to avoid the charge, which meant carrying our luggage around for nearly two hours. We’d booked a family room with a double and a single bed, but the single was barely big enough for a child, so my friend and I had to share the double. Its bedding had hairs and holes, and there were several stains. The room was very dirty. There were hairs on the sink and in the shower, which was still soaking wet. I say this as the daughter of a professional cleaner. There were only a few clothes hangers, so we had to leave our belongings on the floor. The mirror wasn’t lined up with the desk, the bathroom door had no lock, and the TV was tiny and barely worked unless we watched children’s channels. The heating would turn down or switch off while we were out, leaving the room very cold much of the time. There was just one plug socket in the room, with USB sockets by the bed, and turning on the light meant using two switches on opposite sides of the room. We went down three times that evening for food and other things, but nobody was at reception, so we couldn’t complain. The next morning, a rude receptionist told us we should have raised it the night before after we explained no one had been there. I later called the number in my booking confirmation and got another rude, unhelpful woman, who said, “well you need to go online and complain then” before hanging up.

The views and location were great, but the hotel itself was poor, even by Travelodge standards. Our room smelled and the carpet was dirty. On both mornings, we waited 20 minutes for cooked breakfast, and during our stay a staff member came into the room without knocking. I’d avoid it.

My husband and I came up from London for our honeymoon. We enjoyed the hotel’s buffet breakfast, which was tasty and worth the price, and everyone on staff was really friendly. The views were fantastic and the location was handy: Aldi is right next door, the pharmacy is a five-minute walk, and Walkabout is about 10-12 minutes away for watching football. There’s plenty to do nearby, and Newquay is lovely to visit.
