Rooms at Mill street

The food at the Angler, Lucky Hoof, was good, especially the quirky burgers. Our room was comfortable and spacious, though we had Room 2 and Room 3 was much smaller. The location is handy for central Oakham, but the rooms face noisy Mill street and sit right above the Angler speakers. Music played loudly until midnight. I hadn’t realised they were above the pub, or I wouldn’t have booked them.

We stayed on Christmas night because my parents’ house needed the extra space. The rooms were beautiful, with everything we needed, and the place has a lovely boutique feel with thoughtful details. The Oakham location was lovely too. We’ll be back.

Rooms at Mills charged me £255 in advance, but when I arrived I was refused a room. Reception told me the hotel had changed management and the bookings hadn’t been passed on, so they had no record that I had one. I feel I was scammed. I want this investigated, my case reviewed, and my money returned.

Room 5 was spacious, clean and modern. The host was friendly and helpful, and self check-in and check-out made things easy. There’s free off-street parking, and it’s centrally located on a pleasant street. I’d recommend it.
