The George Dragon Inn

John had pheasant to start and venison for his main, while I had beef Bourgogne, which was to die for. We had a lovely dinner at the George & Dragon this evening, with excellent food, very good service and a welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks for a lovely meal.

I was in the area for work and stayed one night. My room was in a charming annex behind the main pub, and it was spacious, very clean and had a really comfortable bed. The internet was impressively fast. I didn’t get to try the evening meal, but breakfast was absolutely delightful. I was very pleased with my stay and would consider returning if I’m nearby again.

Breakfast was a fantastic end to a thoroughly enjoyable stay. We spent one night at The George and Dragon, ate at the pub and found the room comfortable and good value, with breakfast included. Dinner was excellent, with a well thought out menu cooked expertly. The staff are great and a real asset. Lovely pub with rooms, and I’d highly recommend it.

The food is exceptional, full of flavour, well prepared and consistently high in quality. It’s proper pub food, done to a high standard without being overcomplicated. The staff are attentive and friendly, clearly proud of the place, and the service feels relaxed but well organised. The George and Dragon is my favourite pub in Rutland, with a warm, welcoming country pub atmosphere and plenty of character. It feels genuine, not staged, which is rare these days. A brilliant example of a traditional English country pub. Highly recommended.
