Barriemore Guest House

Oban ended up being our favourite stop on our trip around Scotland. We spent a couple of nights here and found the hotel clean, lovely, and well cared for. The check-in instructions were clear and it was easy to get settled. We also appreciated the packet of useful information about local places to visit. It’s an easy walk along the water into the town centre, and we’d happily come back.

We booked at the last minute for one night and were really impressed by both the room and where it’s situated. The room was clean and spacious, with harbour views, and they’d even left binoculars for watching the vessels come in. Check-in was quick and straightforward, and the communication was excellent and thorough. Would recommend.

The owners were so helpful when a noise from the central heating disturbed our sleep on the first night. We’re light sleepers, and once I let them know, they quickly found us another room. Their hospitality went well beyond what we expected and made us feel comfortable. We had a three-night stay in Oban. Our room was large and clean, and the building’s interior felt new and very well maintained. We’d booked a room without a sea view but still had a partial one. It came with tea, coffee, caramel bars, Irn Bru, sherry, and a mini fridge with a big bottle of water. Fresh fruit was available in the morning. There’s a spacious shared lounge and conservatory with tables, extra provisions, bike storage, and a microwave. The weather was good, so we ate our takeaway dinner on the front terrace. Parking at the front was free, and the location worked well for visiting Fort William and the Glenfinnan viaduct, as well as catching the ferry to the Isle of Mull. A big thank you to Mark and Jan. We hope to visit again.

The shared lounge areas were beautiful, and there’s a lovely spot at the front to sit, have a drink, watch people, or look out over the water. Our room was spacious, with armchairs and a comfortable bed. A wonderful guest house.
