Our room was a lovely one at the top, and the place is comfortable and friendly. Still, the hotel looks shabby once you look past the surface. There was paint splashed on the wall, the curtains were different lengths, and the staircase carpet was grim. At times the place felt like a handy hangout or meeting room for hotel staff at every level. We had quite a few issues with the hotel before arriving. There’s almost no parking, and using the small driveway could leave you blocked in or with minor damage.

We were moved from the Alexandra to the regent because of works. From outside I thought it might be a disaster, as the building didn’t look great, but inside it was lovely. The reception area was nice and the staff very friendly. Our room was quiet, with a lovely view over the water and a really comfortable bed. Breakfast the next day was nice, and the restaurant was lovely and very clean. I’d return.

The room was comfortable and roomy, and the washroom was bigger than most we’d had in Scotland. The buffet breakfast in the large dining room was lovely. The hotel exterior looked tired and didn’t compare well with the surrounding hotels, but we were pleasantly surprised once inside. The car park is directly across the street. Would definitely recommend.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The room was basic, and the Freeview TV signal kept cutting out. Streaming services weren’t available either. There was no hot water in the en suite bathroom, and reception had switched off the phone, so nobody could complain. The staff didn’t even apologize. Everything about the place was off putting.

The reception area is spacious and nicely furnished, and we loved our stay, though it was only one night. The view is stunning, the room is average in size, and there’s a good coffee corner in the room. Breakfast is served buffet style and includes English breakfast.
