Our top-floor room had a view worth climbing every stair for. The bed was lovely and soft, the room well equipped, and the en-suite had a bath. Our host was genial and gave us some great dinner suggestions. Oban's a lovely town too. We only wish we'd stayed longer.

Thornloe Guest House makes a great base for exploring the area. It's spotlessly clean, friendly, and has a warm feel, with a lovely hillside setting above Oban Bay. Breakfast was a very nice cooked meal to start the day. I thoroughly recommend it and would happily stay again.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the place was absolutely spotless. There's a lovely view from the front rooms, and you can sit out on the decking when the weather allows. On rainy days, there's a fabulous conservatory. Breakfast has a good range, including vegetarian options. It's in a quiet spot, though the location is on a steep incline and you'll need to walk up.

Breakfast was perfect every time, and Mrs. Valerie was a quintessential hostess. My wife, who's a geologist, hit it off with Valerie talking about rocks. We spent part of our honeymoon in Scotland and England, and this was one of the two best places we stayed in during our three-week trip. We hope to return someday.

We rented the whole house for my family. There was plenty of room and it was well equipped. The weather was a shame, with torrential rain, but the views from the house were breathtaking even then.
