Redcliffe Hotel

We’ve been here twice and will be coming back. The old building is lovely, with a nice room right on the seafront. Breakfast was great, and the man running it was very nice and took care of everything. The staff are really helpful.

We booked afternoon tea while visiting a friend in the area. From our table at the hotel right on the seafront, we had an excellent view. The staff were friendly and very nice, and the tea itself was lovely and, to me, extremely good value. Thanks for the traditional afternoon tea and the warm welcome from everyone we met.

The hotel is right by the seaside, within walking distance of town, and has free parking. It’s also a great place if swimming is what you’re after. But we wanted a much-awaited break from work and got room #35, which spoiled it. There’s no lift, so you have to go up and down narrow stairs. The room looks over the car park, and traffic noise and being overlooked by the neighbour may bother you. It’s an old building, with old carpets patched over torn areas and dirty windows. In the restaurant, there was dried bird poop on the windows.

The rooms feel a little dated, but ours was clean and comfortable. Staff were polite and helpful, and the hotel is right on the seafront. Breakfast was good, and there’s free parking, though it can get busy.
