My Motel

I needed a room for the night while my husband was in hospital. I booked through booking.com and then called to request a ground floor room, which they arranged. It was basic, but clean and comfortable, with a very good bathroom. Near the airport, so handy for an early flight. I’ll definitely stay there again.

A flooding problem left me and a lot of other people stranded. All we got was “sorry”, then the assistant, Isaac, walked away. This hotel seems to have no management structure. Awful experience. Don’t go there, save your time and money.

The parking was good, and check-in was straightforward. Reception staff took us to the room, which was fine and had clean bedding, but not enough towels. The sink area was too cramped to fill the kettle. The shower didn’t get hot, and the shower area smelled strongly of tobacco. The TV kept turning on intermittently overnight. Room service disturbed us repeatedly before checkout time. They’d left a small soap and shower sachet, plus tea bags. We didn’t feel safe there and wouldn’t recommend it.

We got four good nights’ sleep in a cool room on the top floor, even though the week was warm. The room was clean, with a smart TV and a nice ensuite. It looks like the place had a major refurbishment in the last month, with new towels, linen, plastering, bathrooms, kettle and lighting. The tiling, joinery and carpet fitting were pretty poor quality, though. Towels were replaced only on some days. The lift wasn’t working, there were lots of arguments coming from bedrooms onto the street, and police visited frequently, maybe because of regular residents. If you just need somewhere to rest your head, it’s perfect.
