The Severn Arms Hotel

The homemade curry was delicious, and our whole group got served at the same time. The team were great, all smiles, and nothing felt like too much trouble. We didn't stay overnight, but the children were welcome and had a lovely time exploring the grounds. We'll all be back over the summer. Brilliant place, definitely worth a visit!

The service was very polite, but the food was a real disappointment. My lagane was dry, small, bland and clearly not fresh. My partner's steak was overcooked and full of gristle. I have simple tastes and don't often come away disappointed by a meal.

The garden was beautiful, with terrace seating for eating and spots further down by the river if you weren't. We had a relaxed lunch and afternoon at the Severn Arms on a hot Thursday. The service was warm and friendly, and we felt very welcome. There was a great selection of beers and ciders at reasonable prices. We all chose the curry from the specials board, which was tasty, fresh and piping hot. The half chips, half rice was a nice touch, and the portion was good. The other plates looked fresh and generous too. We'd recommend it and come back when we're in the area.

I was staying at the campsite next door and emailed to ask about a table for four. The reply was, 'we dont cook tuesdays'. That wasn't mentioned anywhere on the website, and the staff member didn't sound welcoming or say which days they served food. I emailed again the next day and found out they serve on Wednesdays. I replied straight away to book, but nobody got back to me. It felt like they didn't want customers. The place isn't very inviting from outside, and the staff gave me the same impression.
