Mayors House

There was plenty of space for us, with a good-sized kitchen, two large living rooms, two en-suite bedrooms, three more bedrooms, two separate toilet and basin rooms, and another bathroom with a bath and shower. Most of the house was great, but the shower in that bathroom was unreliable. It was hard to get warm water on the first day, then it became too hot to cool down. The next day it stayed cold. I've used plenty of different showers, so I don't think it was user error. The upstairs twin room had a broken bed base, with the plywood support under the mattress damaged. We only needed one bed in there, so we could manage. The house looks nicely finished at first, though closer inspection shows some details haven't been fully taken care of. On our second night, a car played very loud music outside from 2:40 to 4:15 am. That's not the house's fault, but it did make me wonder if it's common in the neighborhood. Fixing the issues inside would make this a very good stay.

It didn't feel safe walking back at night, even though the location was near enough to the centre. The accommodation was very basic, and the photos didn't really show what it was like.

A comfortable, adequate place that works well as a base for families or groups.

The owner was lovely to deal with, and the property itself was beautiful.
