The Pearl Hotel

I didn’t expect much, so I was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was, even before check-in. I had some personal issues and messaged them, and they were really nice about it. They welcomed me warmly, check-in was easy, and they upgraded my room at no cost. It was clean in every corner, and the bed was comfortable. I wish I’d had more time to enjoy it, but I had an event and only slept for 3 hours because my train was in the morning and I had to check out. I’ll definitely book again.

We stayed in room 201 over the weekend of 13~14 December 2025, and the welcome was warm and friendly. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with enough room for a party. The bathroom was clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was adequate and came on time, so we were ready for a full day out. Getting back at 23:00 was no problem, and the second breakfast in bed was even better! This hotel gets a strong 12 out of 10 from us. Our only complaint is that we had absolutely nothing to complain about. 😃

Bartosz made a stressful arrival much calmer, and I’m especially grateful for his help. The whole stay at Pearl Hotel, Peterborough was fantastic. The room was spotless, comfortable, and had everything I needed, with a very comfy bed and a quiet atmosphere that made sleeping easy. The hotel was clean, modern, and well cared for. It’s also convenient for getting around Peterborough and reaching local amenities, while still feeling peaceful. The staff were welcoming and genuinely helpful from the start. You can tell they care about guests, and I honestly couldn’t find anything to fault. Special thanks to Bartosz for helping me when I was stressed today.

The room was grubby and tired, with rough patch repairs to the decor, and the bed was so uncomfortable that we barely slept during our one night there out of three prepaid. We were looking forward to a birthday weekend, so we tried to focus on the large TV and central location. Reception initially seemed friendly and welcoming, but when we raised the bed issue twice, the response was defensive and dismissive. We were told all the mattresses were the same, and nobody tried to resolve it or showed remorse. We checked out and found another hotel. At the receptionist's suggestion, I sent feedback to the manager. Then the receptionist called aggressively on Sunday afternoon, saying we hadn't raised the problems and were wrong to leave, despite being told there was nothing they could do. I asked why he was calling instead of the manager replying to my email; he said the manager had asked him to handle it and accused me of being aggressive. Of course I was annoyed: they'd ruined our weekend and made no effort to help. The hotel deleted the review I posted a few days earlier, so I'm reposting this to make sure other travellers don't assume they're getting 4-star service for their hard-earned money. Looking at other aggrieved 1-star Google reviews, I wonder if the hotel has problems managing its finances as well as dealing with aggressive staff. I also wonder whether staff are treated respectfully by their employers and are reflecting that treatment. I'll see whether this one gets deleted too. Maybe they'll allow it without the photos of the mouldy room.
