I've stayed here about six times, and the staff are always welcoming and the food is great. It's a handy base for this stretch of coast, with a lovely beach five minutes away on foot and Dracula's Castle about a 20-minute walk. The dog-friendly touches are what really stand out for me. We had a room with a fully enclosed courtyard straight outside, which made things much less stressful with a young dog. At dinner they seated us in a booth so my pup had fewer people around to distract her. It was a lovely spot too, with lots of Bram Stoker tributes.

The food was fantastic, made with locally sourced ingredients, and there’s a great range of whiskies. Staff were polite, friendly, and helpful. The building stays warm and cozy even with the winds blowing outside, which happens regularly.

After exploring the ruins of Slains castle, just three minutes away, we came in for dinner on a cold winter night. The service was lovely and the food was exceptional. The steak pie was the standout.

We found this place while travelling around Scotland on a golf trip, and it turned out to be a great find. It’s just down the street from Cruden Bay Golf Club, and Slains Castle is within walking distance. The rooms and food are good, service is wonderful, the location is convenient, and prices are reasonable. The staff are attentive and the hospitality from the ladies of Kilmarnock was excellent. I’m fond of this kind of hotel, so common in Scotland, and the team here is incredible. A real Cruden Bay mainstay.
