Avonside Cottage

I packed everything back into my suitcase before I’d even been there 24 hours. I’d checked and the moths were clothes moths, and I was stressed the whole stay, worrying I’d take them home. I was relieved when it was over. There were so many of them everywhere. From the ground-floor dining table, you could look up and see lots of dead, squashed moths on the back of the bedroom roller shutter. If the place had been clean, the price might have made sense, but with cleaning like this it felt far too expensive. There were also spider webs on reachable parts of the ceiling and dust throughout. The toilet brush was sitting in over 500 ml of toilet water in its holder, the bathroom door handle had black sticky dirt on it, and the overhead shower head looked like it had never been cleaned.
