Fisher's Hotel

Breakfast was good, and the shops in the town were very friendly. Pitlochry's a nice little place, and it didn't spoil my husband's birthday, but I don't think we'll choose Fisher's again. We were weighing up Fisher's and McKays Hotel and picked Fisher's for our stay on 25th and 26th February. At check-in, the receptionist had started handling our booking when her personal mobile rang. She answered it and left us standing there for five minutes, until another receptionist came over. We thought that was a bit rude. Also, for both days there was no hand-wash in either of the bathroom bottles by the sink, so I had to use the shower gel I'd brought. When we checked out, I returned the key and said goodbye, but got no response because the receptionist had begun talking to a worker.

We stayed one night recently and had a great time. Jorge looked after us at dinner. He's such a kind, lovely gentleman, and made the hotel experience even better. We'll definitely come back.

The only snag was the electric car parking. We paid the advertised flat £30 overnight charging fee through the app, but while we were away at the event, a text warned that the car would incur an idle charge of 25p per minute once charging was complete. We got back just before 11pm and found we'd paid just under £7 extra. I understand the hotel may not run the chargers, but guests should be told about those added costs instead of seeing a flat rate advertised. It could have become very expensive if we'd been further away. We also tried to move the car when we returned to free the space, but there were no free bays, and the other electric bays were occupied by non-electric cars despite signs asking drivers not to park there. Even with that issue, we enjoyed Pitlochry and would happily return to Fishers Hotel. We've stayed there several times, and each visit has been a positive one. We're a couple in our 40s and booked a double room for an overnight visit for the local enchanted forest event. Staff always greet us warmly and explain dinner, breakfast and on-site parking. Our room was clean and had the expected tea, coffee and shower products. Some upgrading work was happening during this stay, but it didn't affect us, and I'm sure the place will look lovely when it's done. Dinner and breakfast were easygoing and well organised, with a good range of choices.

The staff were amazing and the location is great, which makes the state of this hotel such a shame. It's extremely run down, with damaged, dirty areas, construction work and carpets covered in Sellotape. This goes well beyond dated decor. For a town like Pitlochry, which must get plenty of tourists, the hotel does the gorgeous place a huge disservice.
