Churchwood Valley

Wembury Bay is about a 10 minute walk away, though the climb back is very steep. If you have mobility issues, members can use the National Trust car park by the bay, which has a limited number of disabled spaces, and Churchwood Valley has a car park there too. We stayed in Bungalow 18, with level ground right to the front door and parking right beside it. It was spotless, warm, comfortable, and wonderfully quiet, with hardly any noise and no traffic noise in the evening. I wanted to take the sofa home. It was hard to leave, and we’d definitely stay again.

The lodges were clean, well equipped, and felt secure. Ours was ideal for the dogs, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a short walk to the beach. A calm, peaceful place to unwind, and we’ll definitely come back.

We spent 5 weeks in a cabin with my wife, in a beautiful, peaceful spot right by the sea. The cabin was fine, the shop was great, and the staff were good, so we had a fantastic stay. My only annoyance was parking: I drive a large van, and the owner and shop staff left some very tight gaps. Could they park in the bays to make it easier for guests?

We were a Muslim family of five and stayed for two nights. The cabin was basic, but we were out on excursions most of the day. It was spotless and fresh, with good quality linen and mattresses. The water and shower facilities were great, and there were pots, pans, cutlery and serving dishes. There’s an oven, so bring food to cook, plus basics like milk, bread, beans and eggs. For convenience, you may want to bring hand wash, towels and a bath mat, a tea towel or kitchen roll, extra loo roll since we only got one, cutting knives and scissors. Bring fans if the kids don’t want to open the windows, as spiders and wasps can come in when you’re in a forest. There’s a shop near reception, though I’m not sure about the prices. Plymouth has a good choice of halal food places. We booked through booking.com but would call directly next time. There are lovely secluded beaches and wildlife nearby.
