New Continental Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

Dinner at Steve's brasserie was a 10/10, and Chloe, the young waitress, looked after me brilliantly. She made the place feel relaxed, and I never had to wait long. My drink came straight away, and the main arrived in about 15 minutes. The food tasted freshly cooked: the sea bream was flaky and juicy with crispy skin, the lemon potatoes were amazing, and the vegetables had a nice slight bite. The sticky toffee pudding was light and tasty, and came with the best ice cream I’ve ever had. I’d love to know where they get it! The staff are warm, friendly and helpful without being over the top, and the gym is well equipped. The rooms are a little dated but comfortable, with the key amenities, a big TV, a bath, and easy-to-use heating controls. Breakfast is nice, with a reasonable choice and quick service. The location works perfectly for my job. I love this hotel and will always come back. Thanks, everyone.

The restaurant was amazing, much cheaper than I expected, and the waitress and other staff gave faultless service. I would stay again, but the prices need adjusting. The hotel is well placed between the Hoe and the city centre, so I can see why it charges what it does. I paid £109 a night for a single room, which wasn’t worth the price. It needs updating and felt more like a £55-60 room. It was cramped up in the roof, hot and stuffy, with a small smart TV locked by the hotel so it couldn’t be used as a smart TV. I install AV equipment and managed to unlock it, but that shouldn’t have been necessary. The two bits of tissue paper they called pillows didn’t help, and I struggled to fall asleep. The swimming pool changing rooms smelled of stale urine and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for days.

Our group of five had a lovely stay, and we’ll definitely return. It was great to have enough room for all of us in two adjoining rooms. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was impressively clean too. The rooms weren’t completely quiet, but the noise didn’t bother us or keep us from sleeping well. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended.

I love traditional hotels and have always wanted to stay here when I visit Plymouth. The single room was lovely, fully equipped and spotless. Every staff member I met was friendly and helpful. It was a great stay, and I’m looking forward to my next visit!
